My Philosophy - Equine Dental

I believe that dental health is the cornerstone of a horse's vitality and performance. My business is dedicated to providing expert care that enhances the health and performance of your horse through meticulous attention to detail.

My philosophy is that equine dentistry should be about much more than simply removing sharp points. I approach every horse with the goal of creating and maintaining a comfortable, balanced, and functional mouth.

I focus on proper occlusion throughout the entire mouth, including the front incisors and not just the molars. The incisors play an important role in jaw alignment and movement, and addressing imbalances at the front of the mouth can be an important part of achieving an effective overall dental balance.

My goal with every float is to preserve as much healthy tooth as possible while encouraging an appropriate full-contact grinding surface. When the upper and lower teeth meet and function correctly, the horse can chew efficiently and move the jaw naturally. In return, the horse can get all the nutrients it possibly can while eating.

Every horse and every mouth is different, so I believe dental care should be individualized rather than approached as a one-size-fits-all procedure. I focus on comfort at rest, comfort while eating then comfort with a bit. Ultimately, I want each horse to leave with a mouth that is functional and set up to support their long-term health.

Client Experiences

Sarah H.

So many positive things to say about the service Candace provided my two senior horses. She identified and fixed some major problems in my geldings mouth that were significantly affecting his day to day life. I now have two happy horses & a good understanding of what's going on in their mouths. You won't go wrong hiring this extremely talented and well educated lady!

Don Marie

Would highly recommend Candace as she performed a full dental (performance float and precision balance) on my "new to me" 10 year old gelding who has never had his teeth touched before. She pointed out areas to watch over the next 6-12 months, and educated me on what exactly she was doing along with the benefit and importance of what was being done.

Christel C.

Candace did an amazing job on both a mini and a mammoth sized mouth!! I was impressed with her knowledge and attention to detail. Candace addressed some extremely challenging issues including missing teeth, long back molars, and very poor bites. I've seen such a noticeable difference in their comfort and function since having their dental issues properly addressed!
